Who's JCD?  That's our founder, John Cotton Dana.  In 1909, reacting against elitism of art institutions of the time, he created the Newark Museum grounded on the idea of inclusion, celebrating the diversity of immigrant-filled Newark. JCD altered the course and purpose of museums, noting that "the Worth of a museum is in its use".
